Dialog at the AESOP Conference

24/07/2015

Uwe Ferber and Derek Martin presented the INSPIRATION project at the annual AESOP conference in July 2015 in Prague (http://www.aesop2015.eu/) . AESOP is an organization of 150 members which represents the planning schools of Europe and also acts as a professional body with key stakeholders.

Within a common session with the Royal Town Planning Institute, the "planning research agenda" was discussed with international guests from Asia, America and Europe. The role of planning within the context of decreasing public resources, the need to address societal challenges and pressure from raising economic interests is a worldwide topic of concern. The mechanisms of the real estate markets and land use/land regeneration are specific points of interest of research in relation to land use and land management. In this context, the stakeholder approach of INSPIRATION was appreciated by the conference attendees and promising to find an adequate balance between independent research and economic innovation.

INSPIRATION will stay in contact with the AESOP organization and several declarations of interest have been submitted to the national contact points.
